The “30 Different Plants A Week” Find

Dear Reader,

I’d like to first start by saying, I’m not a doctor, but I found an article the other day about the microbiome and it led me to the “30 Different Plants A Week” and I found it to be an interesting challenge. I thought at first, “That’s easy! I totally eat more than thirty different plants.”, but I actually found that to be not true at all. I eat plants, yes, but thirty different ones, no.

The good news is that it includes legumes, nuts, coffee, and even spices! Apparently, it gives your digestive system enough diversity to keep your stomach happy and less bloated/uncomfortable. It also is a great way to add more plants to your everyday foods. For instance, that oatmeal or yogurt, add fruit, nuts, or even granola and that’s three plants right there, depending on the difference!

I do know that if you rely on the spices or herbs to count towards one of your plants, then you use it more than a few times a week since it’s less than you would consume in say a banana or a cucumber.

This will be one of my first ‘challenges’ for myself and I’d like to see if this actually works to help with stomach issues. What about you? Are you going to try this, too? Have you heard anything about it? Let me know!
